UK same-day fragile courier. Handled with the care it deserves.
Art, antiques, large glass, high-value electronics — items that cannot go in a parcel network and cannot wait for specialist freight. Fortis dispatches a vetted operator with blankets, padding and the experience to handle your most delicate loads with complete confidence.
Irreplaceable items. Irreproachable care.
If it matters, if it's fragile, and if it needs to arrive today — Fortis fragile courier is the right service.
Canvases, framed works, sculptures, prints. Handled face-down, wrapped in acid-free materials, loaded last and unloaded first.
Period furniture, ceramics, silverware, rare objects — irreplaceable items that need the care a standard parcel network cannot provide.
Full-length mirrors, glazed prints, plate glass, architectural glass panels. Upright in the van, padded and secured against movement.
Broadcast cameras, recording equipment, specialist AV kit, server hardware — equipment where damage costs five figures and delays cost more.
Pianos, double basses, harps, studio monitors — fragile, awkward, and irreplaceable. Handled by operators familiar with their specific requirements.
Museum loans, gallery pieces, exhibition artefacts — items moving between institutions that require documented, careful handling throughout.
Six layers of protection on every booking.
Request a two-man team for items too large or too fragile for a single person to handle safely. Available across the Fortis network.
Fortis operators carrying fragile items bring professional-grade moving blankets. Items are wrapped, padded and secured against movement before departure.
Large mirrors and glass travel upright in purpose-built padding frames. Canvases travel flat, face-up, never stacked. Noted in your booking.
Your items are loaded once, driven directly to the destination, and unloaded once. No depot sorting, no intermediate handlers, no relay drivers.
Collection receipt with condition note, in-transit tracking, delivery confirmation — every fragile delivery documented from door to door.
Goods-in-transit insurance included on every booking. Payment held in escrow until you confirm safe arrival and good condition.
Fragile courier — your questions answered.
How do I know the driver will handle my items carefully?
When you book a fragile items courier through Fortis, we match you with operators who have experience and equipment for delicate loads — including moving blankets and padding. You should also note specific handling requirements in the booking form. Every driver is PLI-verified and their Fortis profile includes customer ratings from previous jobs.
Should I pack the items myself?
Yes. Fortis drivers transport your items but do not pack them. Fragile items should be appropriately packaged before collection — bubble wrap, foam, specialist art packaging as required. The better the packaging, the better the protection. If you need packing assistance, note this when booking and we can discuss options.
What is the maximum value of goods that can be covered?
Standard Fortis Cover provides goods-in-transit insurance up to £25,000. For items of higher individual value, contact us before booking to discuss enhanced cover options — we can advise on specialist fine art insurance carriers.
Can Fortis transport a grand piano?
Yes, with the right vehicle and team. A grand piano requires a Luton van with tail-lift and a specialist two-man (or three-man) piano team. Contact us directly for piano moves — we'll confirm operator availability and appropriate vehicle before you book.
Do you offer gallery-to-gallery art transport?
Yes. Gallery loans, museum transfers and exhibition pieces are a regular part of Fortis fragile courier work. For high-value or insured institutional loans, additional documentation (condition reports, lender letters) may be required by the institution — we work within those requirements.
How long does same-day fragile delivery take?
The delivery time depends on the distance between collection and drop-off. Fortis drivers drive direct — no depot stops, no relay handoffs. A London-to-Manchester fragile item delivery, for example, takes approximately 3–4 hours from the driver's departure, plus 30–60 minutes from booking to collection.
